“Blue Crushed”

Last Summer, I had the pleasure of interviewing George Bremer. He’s a beat writer for the Indianapolis Colts. One of the first people I bought up to him was Quenton Nelson. George answered and said he’s changed the entire identity of this football team. I remember watching him closely college at Notre Dame. He’s become a quality player in the NFL. The Colts have already been hit with the injury bug. Yesterday, Carson Wentz was ruled out for 5-12 weeks with a foot injury. Today, it was announced that Quenton suffered the same injury as his quarterback. He will also be out for the same amount of time. Wow.

Quenton is the best overall offensive lineman in the NFL. I don’t think this guy has a single weakness in his game. He can open lanes for his running backs whether it’s on a pull or staying in his spot. His pass blocking is top notch. To be a successful offensive lineman, you must always play square and stay low. Quenton does that and then some. I’ve also noticed the quality footwork he plays with. He has choppy feet and it almost looks as if he’s gliding. Once he gets his hands on you, it’s basically a wrap for the defender. A popular term amongst offensive linemen is “Pancakes” which is when an offensive tackle just knocks a defender down. Over the years, he’s made his fair share of pancakes, no question about it. I’ve seen Quenton lay hits on some of the best pass rushers in the league. He does it all.

Number 56 is the reason why the Colts have been one of the best running teams in the AFC. It’s safe to say he’s the face of the franchise for these Colts. He’s the glue that holds this Colts offensive line together. This is another big loss for them. Here’s to a speedy recovery.
