2021 Campus Cruise: Big Ten West Prediction

2020 Recap: They had an unusual 2020 season. That was much of the Big Ten anyway. Graham Mertz became the Badgers starting quarterback, but struggled because he didn’t have much chemistry with his weapons. Also, many of those offensive weapons weren’t healthy. Their defense stepped up and shined per usual. Under Jim Leonhard, Wisconsin had one of the better defenses in the country. They allowed 17 points per game and five yards per play last fall. I’m expecting things to click a little bit more this year in Madison.

Notable Departures: QB Jack Coan, RB Nakia Watson, LT Cole Van Lanen, DE Isaiahh Loudermilk, DE Garrett Rand & CB Rachad Wildgoose.

2021 Prediction: I like Paul Chryst and the Wisconsin Badgers to win the Big Ten West in 2021. With a full off-season to develop Graham Mertz and get those receivers healthy, they will be the favorites to win this division. I believe Graham is primed to have a breakout year and having Danny Davis and Kendric Pryor will make all the difference. As usual, Wisconsin will have one of the best offensive lines in the country. I’ll also be watching running back Jalen Berger. This defense will be better with a more consistent pass rush up front. Eight starters from last season are returning on defense.
