The Green Bay Packers are one of the iconic franchises not just in the NFL, but in sports. With all the legends who have played there and the history within the organization. As of late, they’ve been talked about and not in a good way. One thing I’ve often heard is how they’ve had two of the greatest quarterbacks ever in Brett Favre and Aaron Rodgers and only have two Super Bowl titles between the two. On draft night, Aaron announced that he wants out of Green Bay. The Packers have reiterated that he will not be traded. Aaron has come back and said he’d only come back if the Packers General Manager Brian Gutekunst would be fired. Let’s talk about some potential destinations for the future Hall of Famer.
1. Denver Broncos: This just screams at me. Ever since Peyton Manning retired, it’s been a revolving door of quarterbacks. It was Trevor Siemian, that didn’t pan out. A year later, Case Keenum signs a free agent contract with them. Next. Then, the Broncos signed Joe Flacco. Didn’t pan out. The Drew Lock experiment isn’t working either. Enter Aaron and the Broncos win double-digit games. They also become the biggest threat to dethrone the Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC West. Denver has a strong offensive line, a running game, and a tough defense with a healthy Von Miller. All they’re missing is that one piece to put them over the top. Enter number 12. This would make the AFC more of an intriguing conference. Plus, we could get Rodgers vs Mahomes two times a season!
2. Tennessee Titans: Now, hear me out. This clicked to me. If the Packers feel Jordan Love isn’t capable of leading a franchise, they will look to acquire a veteran who can step in. This is where Ryan Tannehill would provide in exchange for Rodgers. The Titans are in a position to compete. An AFC title game appearance in 2019 and a division title in 2020. They are primed to win. Tennessee has an offense built around Derrick Henry which would make the play-action game that Rodgers thrives in much more deadly. Insert Aaron here and we’re talking about the Titans being one of the four or five best teams in the AFC. The Titans however didn’t do anything to replace Corey Davis but Aaron has shown he can make the most out of who he’s throwing the ball too.
3. New Orleans Saints: They saw an era come to an end in March. Drew Brees announced his retirement. Now, Sean Payton will be relying on Jameis Winston and Taysom Hill for a season. Sean is an offensive minded guy, Aaron is one of the best in the league today. The Saints find some way to acquire him, they’re back in the contender conversation. I know the Saints were also in the running to get Russell Wilson. It would be fun seeing Aaron work with Michael Thomas and Alvin Kamara the same way he’s worked with Davante Adams and Aaron Jones. Also, who wouldn’t want to see Rodgers and Brady face off twice a season in the NFC South?
