1. Aaron Rodgers: Can you believe this is the 11th year of this project? I always look to have fun with this. Over the years, some players have been on this list who are still active players or retired. Some have made the Pro Football Hall Of Fame. Whenever this next player I’m about to talk about decides to call it a career, he will be a member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame years from now. Aaron Rodgers is back and better than ever. He claims the top spot and enters 2021 as my number one player and top quarterback.
The last few years have been shaky for him. He missed most of the 2017 season with a broken collarbone, he’s back in 2018, the Packers fail to qualify for the playoffs and in the 2019 campaign, the Packers win their division under Matt LaFleur and get to the NFC title game. Remember when the team drafted a quarterback named Jordan Love? For a minute, you thought the Rodgers era was over. Throughout last season, I noticed Aaron take on more of a leadership role in 2020. He was more vocal on the sidelines with his teammates and after they made a play, he was the first to congratulate them. Even after all these years, he’s still extending plays with his feet and evades defenders very well. It’s the release of the ball for me. Aaron makes effortless throws and they’ll be completed perfectly to his intended wide receiver. The ability to improvise is also worth talking about. Aaron can roll out the pocket and make a throw off his back foot. His receiver will come away with the ball. No other quarterback throws the back shoulder pass better than this guy. I like the confidence he throws with because he’s putting exactly where he wants it to be.
2020 was the best I’ve ever seen Aaron Rodgers look. He was so locked in. I also noticed how much more comfortable he was in Matt LaFleur’s system. The first year, he was trying to adjust. Number 12 finished last season with 48 touchdown passes and five interceptions. He led the league in numerous statistical categories, including completion percentage, touchdown passes, and passer rating. He was awarded his third league MVP for his incredible season.
