As of late, the Ohio State Buckeyes have been in the news for all the wrong reasons. A few weeks ago, reports surfaced that Zach Smith, a coach on Urban Meyer’s staff was involved in domestic abuse. After everything came out, Zach was fired (AS HE SHOULD’VE BEEN) and Urban has placed on administrative leave with pay. On Wednesday, the University of Ohio State announced that Urban Meyer would be suspended for the first three games of the season without pay.

Over the years, I’ve had such a tremendous amount of respect for Urban Meyer and how he’s been as a coach. Everywhere he’s been, he’s won and his overall record speaks for itself. He has a record of 177-31 in his coaching career and has three national championships also on his resume. However, after hearing about this situation, respect has been lost and it seems as if we are having way too many of these scandals within college sports nowadays, you truly don’t know what is going on until it all comes out in the light. I feel this suspension was truly a slap on the wrist and he should’ve been fired. Originally when I gave my thoughts on this on Twitter, I said if the school truly wants to send a message, suspend him for half the season, but this is domestic violence we are talking about, a man put his hands on his wife the incorrect way and he supposedly knew about this? If you ask me, that is just as bad as committing the crime when you know about something and you don’t put an end to it sooner. If Urban had put an end to this earlier rather than later, the school wouldn’t be in this mess and this scandal wouldn’t be hovering over them.

First, it was Penn State back in 2011, then we heard about what was going on with Baylor and their football team, sticking with college sports, the Louisville Men’s basketball team and then, Michigan State and the Larry Nassar scandal earlier this year. Now, we have this. It just all truly makes you wonder what else is going on.
