Week Three Power Rankings (NCAA)

1. Alabama Crimson Tide– The starting quarterback job belongs to Tua, plain and simple and this is the scariest offense they’ve had under Nick Saban ever. They’ve scored 50 points in back to back games and when you think of Bama and how their teams are built, you automatically assume they have a solid running back and a defense that can punish you. They sit at 2-0 once again and have a game against a team that’s really given them problems over the years and that’s the Rebels from Ole Miss.

2. Georgia Bulldogs– I think the SEC East is over at this point and I feel funny saying this in September because anything can happen, but Kirby Smart and the Georgia Bulldogs showed once again why they are still the class of this division. Talk about a complete game, look at what they did against South Carolina last week and they’re beating teams exactly how they did a season ago and that’s with nice quarterback play from Jake Fromm and running the football consistently. They could still have a zero in the loss column by the middle of the season and won’t see much of a challenge until they face both LSU and Auburn from the SEC West.

3. Ohio State Buckeyes– In their first two games, the offense has scored a total of 166 points and they won their 900th game as a university last weekend against Rutgers. I think this is the biggest threat to the Alabama Crimson Tide in college football because of the speed they possess on both sides of the football. They’ve breezed by their first two opponents, expect them to have more of a challenge tonight against TCU.

4. Clemson Tigers– I know they came in with a lot of hype surrounding them and even they know they were lucky to leave College Station with a win last Saturday night considering how much they struggled in the second half of that game against the Texas A&M Aggies. The Tigers secondary was sliced up and gave up 430 yards passing. They did shut down the run, but Mond and the Aggies really had their way with their secondary. Who’s still the quarterback moving forward?

5. Oklahoma Sooners– I think they’re saying “what about us”? They were a playoff team last season and they are the defending Big-12 champions. Kyler Murray is so much fun to watch and when I watch him play, I see so much of Russell Wilson in his game. He tore apart the UCLA Bruins defense last Saturday throwing for 369 yards and rushing for 69. The Sooners ground attack took a huge blow when Rodney Anderson was lost for the year with a knee injury. The one thing I can say is Oklahoma has improved so far on defense, let’s just see if it can continue.
