1. Alabama Crimson Tide– They have scored a touchdown on their opening drive of each game they’ve played this year and even after that, they overpower you with points. If anybody has a shot at containing Tua and trying to limit this offense, LSU is that defense that could do it. They could stop this streak in a few weeks.
2. Notre Dame Fighting Irish– It’s a good time to be a fan of the Fighting Irish right now. They have a clear path to the playoffs and the only thing in the way of them getting there is them. They are their biggest threat and they can’t afford to drop a game they know they should win. This is a test for them as they fly to San Diego to face a Navy team in a primetime battle.
3. Clemson Tigers– Many thought that the showdown against the Wolf Pack of North Carolina State would be an intriguing one, but they dominated and strengthened their lead in the division behind a stellar performance behind Trevor Lawrence who threw for 308 yards passing and a touchdown pass. The defense also did their part and shut down a good NC State offense and pressured Ryan Finley all game long.
4. Michigan Wolverines– They are one of the hottest teams in the country right now and they are finally looking like the team that we’ve been expecting them to be. They have a healthy Chris Evans, Karan Higdon is getting his touches, the defense is still one of the best units in all of college football, but the difference maker has been Shea Patterson and the quarterback play has been a big-time concern in Ann Arbor. They sit in first place in the Big Ten East at the moment.
5. LSU Tigers– I love what I’ve seen from them this year. They’re well coached, Burrow gives them consistent play at quarterback, Nick Brossette is a nice running back and they play great team defense. The last time we saw them play, they were pressuring Jake Fromm and shutting down the Georgia Bulldogs. They return from their bye week today before it’s rivalry night in Baton Rouge a week from today when Bama strolls to town.
