Super Bowl LIX
(1) Kansas City Chiefs at (2) Philadelphia Eagles
Chiefs: I already know what’s been said about them throughout the year. They’ve been lucky, they haven’t looked the best, and they can be had, especially come playoff time. In the divisional round against the Houston Texans, they were able to survive because the Texans didn’t capitalize on the opportunities presented to them such as being in the red zone and not coming away with points or as I refer to it, leaving points on the table. Once again, you can not beat this football team kicking field goals and being content with three points, that simply isn’t going to cut it. Yes, they have slid by, no, they haven’t looked dominant, but at the end of the day, they’ve won and the last time I checked, I didn’t know there were style points for winning. Just win and everything else will fall into place. Since Christmas Day in 2023, the Kansas City Chiefs have lost a total of three games since then. In the AFC title game against the Buffalo Bills, I saw a group that would bend from time to time, but eventually didn’t break and that’s the championship pedigree I’m always referring to. I have so much respect for Andy Reid as a Head Coach and what’s made him the best in the league is how he’s been able to adapt with the changes of the game. I remember when Andy was the coach of the Eagles and the game back then wasn’t what it is now. If anything, the game was more hard-hitting more than 20 years ago compared to today. I remember when this football team was either average or they struggled to compete and now, they have been the cream of the crop in the AFC. On Sunday night, the Chiefs will attempt to make history and become the first team to win three consecutive Super Bowls.
Eagles: I can admit I wasn’t completely sold on them and I also said earlier in the season I thought they didn’t want to play for Nick Sirianni anymore. After four games this season, they were sitting at 2-2 with all the questions in the world surrounding them. The turning point of their season came against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, a game they lost and after that game, this team went on to win ten consecutive games. While I understand the Detroit Lions had been arguably the best team in the NFC, I felt this Philadelphia Eagles group was right behind them and I always stated that they would be the biggest threat to the Lions in the conference. I remember when this group won the Super Bowl in 2017, and I watched this team play in Super Bowl LVII just a few seasons ago. While those teams were strong and very good, this group this season has been exciting to watch, and I will also throw in there that neither of those teams had Saquon Barkley. What an addition he has been to this Eagles team! He has elevated everything around him and ends up having the best season of his career after leaving the New York Giants. I understand they maybe different sports, but his impact reminds me so much of Kevin Durant when he signed with the Golden State Warriors. Everything clicked when KD joined them and I can same the same about Saquon and the Eagles. Early on in the year, I was wondering how this Offensive Line would be without Jason Kelce, and it took a while for them to mesh, but they did it and came together. Vic Fangio was hired to coach the defense, and they’ve become one of the best units in the league under his eye. This is a tough football team that has battled this year and pushed through. They are in their second Super Bowl in three seasons under Nick Sirianni and will look to win their second title in franchise history this Sunday night.
I can continue my trend before the Super Bowl. This is usually where I will post my two x-factors for each team, more analysis along with keys to the game. I wouldn’t be me if I didn’t keep you waiting much longer! This is part one of my Super Bowl preview. On Sunday, I will be doing part two on video where I will speak more about each team along with giving you an x-factor for both Kansas City and Philadelphia, keys to the game for both teams and of course, who I have winning Super Bowl LIX. Make sure you are on the lookout for part two, and I will see you on Sunday prior to kickoff!
Eager to see who you have winning it all. It’s a tough call. I think this will be a great matchup. Also, I don’t think the focus will be on Kelce this weekend, so I’m eager to see who you think will be their x-factor.
