Saturday Spotlight

(5) Georgia Bulldogs at (1) Texas Longhorns

Georgia: They’ve won their last two games since the loss to the Alabama Crimson Tide on September 28th. It wasn’t close against the Auburn Tigers and they beat the Mississippi State Bulldogs, but shockingly, they gave up 31 points. If you’ve watched anything when it comes to this team, they’ve been a stone wall. An immaculate piece that cannot be moved. This year, I don’t fear this defense in Athens as much as I have in previous years. I understand they’ve lost several pieces to the NFL over the years, but that’s just a cliche excuse to me at this point. I’ve often stated the same line with them as I have the Alabama Crimson Tide previously which is they will never rebuild, they will only reload. One thing I will say about the Georgia Bulldogs this year is they’ve been able to push the football up and down the field a bit more consistently. As an offense, this group is averaging 33 points per game. I didn’t know what to expect from this passing attack without Brock Bowers who was a key piece of the puzzle for their offense. They’d use him in so many ways and he was a key threat in the red area of the field as well. The attack may not be perfect at times, but Carson has played better as of late, the pass protection has been strong and they have the speed on the perimeter. Tonight, they will travel to Austin for a showdown with the number-one-ranked team in the country.

Texas: I’ve been so high on them. Last year, the big win in Tuscaloosa against the Alabama Crimson Tide sold me and they were also a playoff team. Steve Sarkisian has become one of the five best coaches in the country and there’s no other guy I can see running this program the way he has. Just a few weeks into the season (three to be exact), I said three teams stood out to me and that was the Georgia Bulldogs (of course), the Tennessee Volunteers, and the Texas Longhorns. Georgia has slipped up some and their winning streak came to an end against Alabama back in September, Tennessee’s offense has been stale since entering conference play, but the Longhorns have stayed afloat and remained consistent. Even when Quinn Ewers was injured, Arch Manning came in and the offense didn’t miss a beat. This is the best team in the country and right now, it’s not even close. They’re a well-coached group with a strong balance on offense and they can win games in many different ways. The shootout of course, but the week two win in Ann Arbor against the Michigan Wolverines showed they can slow games down when the opportunity presents itself and the defense is a tone-setter. This group reminds me so much of 2021 Georgia in many ways. That Bulldogs team was so good defensively that they made opposing offenses think they had a chance in the first quarter. After that, they imposed their will and that’s exactly what I’ve seen from Texas this year. Look no further than the Red River Rivalry last weekend. Oklahoma turned them over andmoved the ball some, but once the horns settled it, it was over. They’re back home tonight for a huge game.

This is normally where I give my X factors for both teams and I provide keys to the game along with a score prediction. Not this time! I will be calling this game tonight on Streamyard with Brian Snow. I will provide a link for you all to tune in and listen to me provide color analysis. This should be a fun game to watch! Post in the comments who you think wins this game! See you all tonight!
