2023 Review: They went undefeated in the regular season once again and dominated the SEC West in 2023. Carson Beck had big shoes to fill replacing a two-time national champion in Stetson Bennett, but he played well and guided the Dawgs to some crucial victories. Even without Brock Bowers, Georgia still found ways to dominate and beat up on their opponent. They ran into their kryptonite in the Alabama Crimson Tide in the SEC Championship and fell short which would eventually eliminate them from playoff contention. They did make a New Year’s Six bowl game and handled their business in the Orange Bowl against the Florida State Seminoles.
Key Departures: TE Brock Bowers, OT Amarius Mims, WR Ladd McConkey, S Javon Bullard.
2024 Prediction: This is still the team to beat in the SEC. The Georgia Bulldogs will find themselves playing in the SEC title game for the fourth consecutive season under Kirby Smart. They begin the season with a showdown against the Clemson Tigers in week one and they also have games against the Texas Longhorns, Alabama Crimson Tide and Ole Miss Rebels, all on the road. They should win at least two of those three road games I mentioned. This is one of those teams where they don’t rebuild, they just reload. Carson Beck should be better with a full year of starting experience under his belt and they will still play their brand of football which is running the ball and playing punishing defense.
