2023 Recap: It was a 10-3 season for the Tigers a year ago which was considered successful according to Head Coach Ryan Silverfield. Their offense was one of the best in the conference averaging a little over 39 points per contest. Anytime they had the ball, they were a serious threat to score, no matter where they were lined up. The root of their problems is their defense. For as much as they scored, their defense allowed 29 points per game which was one of the worst in the AAC. Memphis won the games they were supposed to win and lost the games they were supposed to lose. The positive is they were able to finish the year with a win in the Liberty Bowl against the Iowa State Cyclones.

Key Departures: RB Jay Ducker, DB Simeon Blair, DeAgo Brumfield

2024 Prediction: The expectations are lofty, but I am picking the Memphis Tigers to win a share of the AAC this year. Losing talent from the smaller universities is always tough because the more well-known schools will try to lure those guys in to play for them. For the Tigers, they were able to retain both starting Quarterback and his number one receiving target, Roc Taylor. I’ll give Coach Silverfield all the credit in the world because he’s able to retain high-level talent is elite. Memphis was able to recruit some quality talent for this year’s roster such as Wide Receiver Keondre Hardy and they took full advantage of the transfer portal  by landing South Carolina Running Back, Mario Anderson and Arkansas Linebacker, Javante Mackey. I know what to expect of the offense. What determines their success this year will be their defense, especially that secondary with many new faces.
