9. Josh Allen: One player has been revealed. It’s officially a new era of Quarterbacks in the NFL. Eli Manning retired in 2020, Philip Rivers and Drew Brees each called it careers in 2021, Ben Roethlisberger called it quits in 2022 and Tom Brady unretired to play again in 2022 and said he was done for good earlier this year. In the AFC East, the Buffalo Bills have done just that and a man wearing the number 17 has been the reason. Josh Allen is here. He’s the second player I’m revealing who’s making their debut! He checks in at number nine and my third ranked Quarterback in the league today.
I think you all know the saying by now. You better have game if you have two first names! That saying definitely applies to Josh. Many of his peers have referred to him as one of those guys you create on Madden, and I don’t think they’re too far off with saying that. At 6’5, he sees the entire field and when he’s in that pocket, he can make those plays down the field. Josh has an electric arm to get the ball to his intended receiver. Throwing the ball is no issue at all for him. He can almost make it look effortless at times. However, when you collapse his pocket and force him to move outside, Josh can extend the play and it’s so reminiscent of Ben Roethlisberger. In fact, Josh is a quicker version of Ben and he’s a more accurate passer. The best part of Josh’s game is the ability to get those yards with his feet. He has no fear when he’s in the open field because I’ve seen him leap over defenders, lower the shoulder and run through people and he can also make people miss. When he’s a runner, he has the mentality of a Running Back and what I mean is he refuses to get down. He keeps the legs moving, runs over Defensive Ends and stiff arms Linebackers. Referencing Roethlisberger again, anytime someone tries to bring him down, just as it was with Ben, Josh is a challenge to take down.
The Bills have been the best team in their division these last few seasons and it’s because of the growth of Josh Allen as a Quarterback. He truly has it all. The arm strength, the mobility, the accuracy and he’s become a leader both vocally and by example. Josh just has a certain swagger to him, especially when everything is clicking for him. He’s helped lead the Bills to a few playoff appearances, including a trip to the AFC Championship game during the 2020 season when they felt short to the Kansas City Chiefs.
