2022 Recap: They’ve won the last two Pac-12 championship games. Kyle Whittingham is an underrated coach in my eyes. Utah may not have the flare as other teams in the conference or around the nation. This is an old school team that wants to play downhill and beat you with a physical defense. They’ve finished their last two seasons with 10-4 records and had strong play in the conference. Cameron Rising is a fun Quarterback to watch. He’s the engine that gets this offense going. The Utes stunned the USC Trojans in the title game last December and fell short to the Penn State Nittany Lions in the Rose Bowl to end their season.
Key Departures: TE Dalton Kincaid & DB Clark Phillips
2023 Prediction: I’m not going against the champs. I like them to get back to the conference title game and defend their title. The Utes season will hinge on the status of their Quarterback. Cameron Rising tore his ACL in the Rose Bowl and looks to be ready to start the season. The Offensive Line returns three starters, Running Back Ja’Quinden Jackson returns looking to pick up where he left off in 2022 and Tight End Brant Kuthie after missing a majority of the ’22 season returns which will give this passing attack a huge boost. Expect the defense to be back at the top of the conference, but replacing Clark Phillips in the secondary won’t be an easy task.
