2022 Recap: They won 11 games. That’s something to celebrate, right? Not necessarily. Here’s the good. It was the Clemson Tigers 12th consecutive season with double digit victories, but there were times when they didn’t look the greatest. I was never the biggest fan of DJ Uiagalelei. They could never find that model of consistency with him under center. Once Dabo Swinney made the switch to Cade Klubnik, I saw more of an offensive explosion. Back when Trevor Lawrence was Quarterbacking the Tigers, their passing attack ranked amongst the best in the country. In 2022, Clemson ranked 66th nationally in that category and that simply won’t cut it. Once again, the defense was the backbone of this team.
Key Departures: QB DJ Uiagalelei, OL Jordan McFadden, LB Trenton Simpson, EDGE Myles Murphy, DT Bryan Bresee, TE Davis Allen.
2023 Prediction: 11-3, an appearance in the ACC title game and still not satisfied? Dabo made a change by hiring Offensive Coordinator Garrett Riley from TCU to give this offense a spark. If they are consistent, I like Clemson not only to get back to Charlotte, but a potential spot in the College Football Playoff. Clemson will need more from their receivers and Offensive Line and once again, the defense will be one of the best in the nation. Xavier Thomas should be a force once again for this defense. The offense will once again revolve around Will Shipley, but who outside of him will step it up and give the offense the boost it needs?
