(4) Ohio State Buckeyes at (1) Georgia Bulldogs: Throughout the season, I had been saying we could get this matchup. Some experts even said these were the two best teams in the country at one time. For a trip to the Natty, these two powerhouses will battle it out! Ohio State won every game in the regular season, then failed to beat the Michigan Wolverines for the second consecutive season. The only way they could get in was if the USC Trojans somehow lost to the Utah Utes in the Pac-12 Championship Game. Newsflash, USC did indeed lose and that opened the door for the Buckeyes to sneak in. For the fourth time ever, they are a playoff team. On the other side, Georgia has been dominant once again. Maybe not as dominant as they were a season ago, but still, they’ve handled their business and here they are once again. They have a strong chance to repeat. The defense has once again delivered, and they get timely production from the offense. This is an interesting Quarterback battle between Stetson Bennett and C.J. Stroud. I can’t wait to see this Georgia defensive front against this high-powering offense of Ohio State.

(3) TCU Horned Frogs at (2) Michigan Wolverines: For the first time in College Football Playoff history, a school from Texas has finally made the bracket of four! There was no way they could be left off the bracket and a team such as the Alabama Crimson Tide got in over them. First, Alabama had two losses and the committee has yet to put a team in with more than one loss and secondly, why punish a team who made their conference title game and reward a team who didn’t? Sonny Dykes has breathed new life into this TCU program. This is the best I’ve ever seen them look and their offense is led by a Heisman Candidate, Max Duggan. He’s taken full advantage of his opportunity to start and hasn’t taken it for granted. This TCU offense is balanced, yet explosive. Michigan is back! For the second year, they’ve won the Big Ten East, the Big Ten conference title game and are back in the CFP. They’ve played their best football at the best time. This defense is rounding up when it matters, and I love what I’ve seen from J.J. McCarthy on the offense. How will Michigan prepare for Quentin Johnston? That’s a matchup I can’t wait to see.
