9. Davante Adams: So far, a running back has been revealed. How about we show love to the guys who the quarterback throws the ball too? The wide receiver! This has been a hot topic on who’s been the best receiver in the business. You could make a case for a few guys, and you wouldn’t be wrong with whoever you bring up. This next player made his debut on the list last year. For the second consecutive season, he’s back! Davante Adams is in at number nine, and he checks in as my second-best wide receiver in the league today.
I’ve raved about this guy the last two years for obvious reasons. Remember when he was the third option years back when the Packers had Jordy Nelson and Randall Cobb? Time flies and now, Davante is THE guy for his offense. If I needed one word to describe him, it’s dominant. He plays with that dog mentality. Anything he wants, he can get. The first thing that stands out about Davante is the route running. He’s one of the three best at freeing himself to get open. It’s the footwork that allows him to freely roam around and separate himself from a defensive back. Davante is a cheat code. He can catch, juke his way by a defender, he can stiff-arm people and the breakaway speed I believe is what stands out to me the most when it comes to his game. I’ve seen him run those inner routes and once the ball hits his hands, he’s accelerating himself up the field. He also doesn’t mind making those tough catches in traffic. The elusiveness he displays amazes me. Davante moves so fluidly in space.
I said this last year, and I’ll say it again. If you are a receiver and need a guy or two to watch film on, this is one of those guys you must have at the top of your list. Davante just goes to work. He doesn’t say much because he lets his play do the talking. He’s earned every accolade these last few years. This year, he will suit up in the Silver and Black in Las Vegas.
