2021 Recap: They were cruising until a game in October in College Station against the Texas A&M Aggies where they were stunned. Prior to that loss, the Crimson Tide hadn’t lost a regular season game since 2019. That’s impressive. I remember saying on the various shows I contribute for that every game after that loss was a must-win because the committee won’t put a two-loss team in the playoffs. They saved their best performance for the SEC title game when they defeated the almighty Georgia Bulldogs. That win gave them the top seed in the playoffs. After dominating Cincinnati in the Cotton Bowl, they fell short to Georgia in the National Championship game.
Key Departures: WR John Metchie III, WR Jameson Williams, OT Evan Neal & LB Christian Harris
2022 Prediction: This shouldn’t come as a shocker to anyone. The Alabama Crimson Tide will win the SEC West for the third year in a row. Bryce Young is back and returns as the reigning Heisman Trophy winner. Alabama loses players each year. They never retool, they simply reload. They should have another strong offensive line, a consistent offensive attack with balance and with Bryce under center, they will push the ball down the field. On defense, watch for Will Anderson Jr. He’s the closest thing I’ve seen to Derrick Thomas. The defense this year will play much better. Last season was one of their down units.
