2021 Recap: I expected them to be good in 2021, but not as strong as they were. I’ve analyzed college football for some years now and what I saw from the Georgia defense was the best I’ve ever seen. As Cole Johnson always told me, they made you think you had a slight chance and after that, they imposed their will. Each week, they made you look one dimensional and ripped your heart out. The Bulldogs defense gave up 10 points per game and held their opponents to 4.2 yards per play. On the offensive side, Stetson Bennett stepped up and threw 29 touchdown passes. I remember saying throughout last season that if Georgia didn’t win a championship, their window will be closed. We don’t have to worry about that now! Kirby Smart finally got the monkey off his back and beat the Alabama Crimson Tide for the National Championship in January.
Key Departures: DT Jordan Davis, DT Travon Walker, LB Nakobe Dean & S Lewis Cine
2022 Prediction: They may not be as strong as they were a year ago, but Georgia will take this division once again. I just don’t see anyone stepping up to the plate and challenging them in the East. They return only ten starters from the title winning team, but still, there’s no reason for concern. Kirby will simply reload and stock up both sides of the football this fall. Stetson Bennett will be under center once again at starting quarterback. Running the ball shouldn’t be a problem again for the Bulldogs.
