When the stars of the game are healthy, the league as a whole is better. Before the 2020 season started, Von Miller suffered a foot injury that caused him to miss the entire regular season. There were also speculations of his days in Denver coming to an end. He came back in 2021 and didn’t appear to miss a beat. On November 1st, the Los Angeles Rams made a trade to acquire the veteran outside linebacker meaning they were all in to win. Look what ended up happening. I knew it would be tough for the Rams to try and bring him back for another year. Von is back on the move. Next season, he’ll be playing his football in Orchard Park as a member of the Buffalo Bills.
Von is a top-five defensive player in the league. When he’s on his game, he’s unblockable and the fact teams try to block him with one guy still questions me to this day. If you listen to many of his peers around the league, the first thing they mention is that first step of his. It’s vicious and has been the best part of his game since he became a professional. What I’ve always admired about Von is how he has a plethora of ways to get to the quarterback. He uses his body in a variety of ways to get by blockers. Von can dip underneath blockers and he can bullrush through guys. In other words, he can get what he wants because he overpowers people. Von doesn’t depend on one way to rush the passer, he uses a variety of ways to get home. I’ve watched him run right around people and they couldn’t even get a hand on him. His impact makes all of the difference on the field. He does the little things regularly and that’s what makes him great. Von plays low and that’s why he’s so successful. As I always say, the lowest man wins and he’s always lower than his opponent.
He’s back in the AFC. He will provide a Buffalo defense with veteran leadership and a championship pedigree. The Bills improved significantly on defense in 2021 and this move to acquire one of the best in the business could keep them there. Von will have an immediate impact on this Bills team, not just the defense. He’s a leader and that’s what Buffalo needed. Buffalo feels they can get to the Super Bowl. Let’s see if this is the piece to get them over the top.
