1. Dallas Cowboys: The other day when I was talking to someone, he mentioned to me that there are two locks for teams to win their divisions. I added a third. There’s no team in the NFC East that will come remotely close to competing with them. Washington is really struggling, especially on the defensive side of the ball, the Eagles aren’t good and the Giants, give me a break. Even without Dak Prescott last Sunday night in Minneapolis, the Cowboys were able to grind that game out. The last time they lost, it was opening night in Tampa Bay against the defending champs. They are rolling right now and continue to impress me. Dak is expected back today against the Broncos after missing last week with a calf injury.
2. Green Bay Packers: Last week was their grittiest win I’ve seen in quite some time. You don’t have your top three receivers, so what happens next? You switch up your offensive game plan and it worked. They became a running team and all Aaron had to do was control the clock. Take care of the ball and let the defense handle the rest. That’s exactly what happened. Now, they’ll be looking different today. Aaron tested positive for COVID-19 and this was supposed to be the first ever meeting between Mahomes and Rodgers. The Packers today will get their first look at Jordan Love. A game still has to be played at the end of the day.
3. Buffalo Bills: For a second, I didn’t like how they were looking against the Miami Dolphins after their bye week. Prior to the bye, they lost a tough game in Nashville to the Titans. Their defense returned to form once again and the offense struggled to get into a rhythm early on, but they eventually found their footing. The only team I could see giving them some fits in the division is New England of course. They are above and beyond everyone in the AFC East. Their schedule remains soft today when they face the Jacksonville Jaguars today. Josh Allen? Trevor Lawrence? It could be interesting.
4. Arizona Cardinals: They were running things atop the power rankings for a few weeks. For the first time this year, they tasted defeated at the hands of the Packers. Reportedly, Kyler Murray was seen leaving after the game last week with a walking boot. You saw how the Cowboys handled the calf situation with Dak? The Cardinals should take the same approach with Kyler as well. I’d rather have a fully healthy quarterback in January than to lose him in November and that’s just me being realistic and painting the bigger picture.
5. Los Angeles Rams: They’re back to rolling again. Last Monday, they made the biggest move of the NFL trade deadline when they acquired Von Miller from the Denver Broncos. Now, offenses have to prepare to play a defense with Jalen Ramsey, Aaron Donald and Von Miller? Good luck! This move tells me they are all in and want to separate themselves from the pact in the NFC. You have Dallas, Tampa Bay, Green Bay, Arizona and these Rams. They’re back home tonight for a showdown with the Titans.
