Week Eight Power Rankings (NCAA Football)

1. Georgia Bulldogs: Another week, another dominant win. If you look back at their schedule, the only team who truly presented a challenge to them was the Clemson Tigers. They’re the only team to lose to Georgia by single digits. Last weekend, they had a showdown with a previously 11th ranked Kentucky Wildcats. Georgia entered the day with their first number one ranking since 1982. I see them just coasting along until the SEC title game on December 4th. Even if they were to lose that game, how could you keep them out of the playoffs?

2. Cincinnati Bearcats: I’m liking that people are beginning to take notice to them. They have one of the best running backs in the country nobody really discusses and his name is Jerome Ford. When the Bearcats have the running game and the defense going, they’re such a tough out for any opponent. They continue to make a believer out of many people that they’re a playoff team this year. They handled their business last weekend against Gus Malzahn and UCF. Keep an eye on this team moving forward.

3. Alabama Crimson Tide: Talk about refocusing. After giving up 41 points the week before to Texas A&M, they were beyond focused against the Mississippi State Bulldogs. They allowed only four yards per play and recorded seven sacks. Talk about taking your anger out on your next opponent. When the defense sets the tone early and the offense gets the ball moving down the field, they will not be beat. Today, they welcome the Tennessee Volunteers to town for an SEC showdown.

4. Michigan Wolverines: When they last played, they just escaped a win on the road in Lincoln against the Nebraska Cornhuskers. Jim Harbaugh said himself the bye couldn’t have come at a better time. He stated his team needed to rest and prepare for the second half of the schedule. Today is another trap game for them before their biggest game of the season next weekend against the Michigan State Spartans. They must stay focused and not take Northwestern lightly.

5. Oklahoma Sooners: There’s nothing to debate anymore as far as I’m concerned. Keep starting Caleb Williams. I was so impressed with him last weekend in his first start. The kid just has that “it factor” and the team just appears to gravitate to him. Kennedy Brooks is such a vital piece to this Sooners offense. Last weekend against TCU, he ran for 153 yards on seven yards per carry. As usual, the defense struggled, but I don’t think the fans are too worried after what they got from Caleb.
