Week Seven Power Rankings (NCAA Football)

1. Georgia Bulldogs: This shouldn’t be a shocker to you. They have been the most dominant team in this game by far and I don’t see them letting up anytime soon. Even with injuries to some key guys on offense, they’ve still be able to move the football in different ways. Defensively, they have been stout every single week. 33 points total allowed on the year. This is the best team I’ve seen under Kirby Smart. Today, they return home this time as the number one ranked team in the country for a battle with the Kentucky Wildcats. How many points will Kentucky put up against them today?

2. Iowa Hawkeyes: Talk about a gritty win last week! That was as solid of a comeback as I’ve seen. They were down, but never out of the game. If you get that big throw or throws from Spencer Petras, they will win football games. It looked as if they were going to be in for a long game against Penn State, but the second half came around and they looked like a completely different football team. That’s a huge win for them in a huge showdown. Now, they’re back home today against the Purdue Boilermakers.

3. Cincinnati Bearcats: Could we finally see a non-power conference team get to the playoffs? This could finally be the year. They have that impressive win on their resume with their big time victory against the Notre Dame Fighting Irish a few weeks ago. This team can run it with the best of them, throw it and they play solid team defense. To me, Desmond Ridder doesn’t get the respect he deserves. Right now, it’s them and everyone else looking up to them in the AAC. They’ll coast along until championship weekend (hopefully).

4. Alabama Crimson Tide: They’ve been at the top of my rankings for weeks now. Jimbo Fisher called for a victory last weekend, but many of us didn’t! After watching the game against Florida earlier in the year, I said to myself there would be that one situation where a team would keep them down and it would be tough for them to get back into it. When teams play Alabama, they will get everyone’s best shot. Tonight, they play Mississippi State looking to bounce back and get in the win column.

5. Oklahoma Sooners: They needed a second half come back to beat the Texas Longhorns. I’ll just come out and say it. Spencer Rattler is not the answer for the Oklahoma Sooners. Look how the team responded when Caleb Williams came in at quarterback. I’m a firm believer in going with the hand that’s hot and the offense just looks better with him under center. I can’t wait to see what direction Lincoln Riley goes in now. There could be a quarterback controversy brewing up in Norman.
