For years, the Buffalo Bills were searching for their next quarterback. They hadn’t really had one since the days of Jim Kelly who is a member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame. It was some down times in Orchard Park, New York. Then in 2018, the Buffalo Bills elected to draft a quarterback out of Wyoming named Josh Allen. He didn’t start that first year right away, but he came in and never looked back. When the news broke of players receiving contract extensions, Josh Allen’s name came up in the reports. Today, he’s been rewarded by the Buffalo Bills with a massive contract extension! A six-year deal worth $258 Million. $150 Million of that is guaranteed.
I can’t say enough about this guy. Josh is a top five quarterback in our game. Most young quarterbacks tend to struggle in the beginning. That’s just a fact. However, when it comes to Josh, he never lets the bad moments of the game affect him. He turns the page and is looking to redeem himself. When I watch him, I see an incredible athlete. This is a big kid. He’s 6’5 and weighs 237 pounds. He can run the quarterback bootleg, throw from the pocket and make plays with his feet. In my opinion, I think he’s at his best when he’s moving that pocket and making throws on the run. Protection can look to be breaking down and Josh will make something out of nothing. He’s a more athletic and faster version of Ben Roethlisberger. I say that because he’s that bigger quarterback that can move, just like Ben did in his prime. Even when he’s making plays with his feet, I see some Cam Newton in his game. Josh gives defenses and their coordinators headaches because he’s a dual threat guy that can beat you in many ways. How about his arm strength? He flicks the ball down the field and makes it look effortless. By far, he has one of the strongest arms in the league today. One thing people don’t notice about him is his toughness. Josh has taken his fair share of hits and gets right back up as if nothing happened.
The Buffalo Bills had their best season in 25 years in 2020. They went 13-3, won the AFC East, clinched the two seed in the AFC playoffs and were a game away from the Super Bowl. They fell short to the Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC Championship game. Josh was the catalyst behind the Bills incredible season. He threw 37 touchdown passes which is now a single-season record for the Bills. He deserves every single penny of this deal.
