“Brown Paper Bag”

If there’s one thing I’ve come to know about college football, certain schools are always going to be known for producing top players at certain positions. Wisconsin has introduced us to some good running backs as has Alabama. LSU could be labeled as “defensive back university” and I wouldn’t disagree. Georgia has also produced its share of running back. Herschel Walker, Sony Michel, Garrison Hearst (I took it back), Sony Michel, Todd Gurley and I can’t forget Terrell Davis, a Pro Football Hall of Famer. Nick Chubb was also a Georgia Bulldog. Since becoming a pro, he’s made a name for himself. Today, the Cleveland Browns decided to reward their running back with a contract extension. A three-year deal worth $36.6 million and $20 million guaranteed.

Nick has become one of the three best running backs in this league. I understand over the years that the game can change and certain positions are played a certain way. What I enjoy about Nick is how he brings that old-school mentality to the position. I’m not sure how he does it, but he’s able to break tackles so easily in space. Nick has unbelievable field vision mixed with great instincts and tremendous balance. When you combine all those things I listed, you have a dangerous threat out the backfield. He’s a powerful, yet downhill runner. Tackling him takes the entire village because even with defenders draped all over him, he’s still churning his legs and doing all he can to get those hard-earned yards. He reminds me so much of Jamal Lewis, the former Baltimore Ravens running back. I think he’s a bit quicker than Jamal was. The more underrated part of his game is his speed. Because he comes across as a power back, people don’t realize how quick he is. You can snap your fingers and he’s from point a to point b before you know it. Nick is strong enough to break tackles yet shifty enough to make people miss in the open field.

The Cleveland Browns’ offense isn’t as strong without him. Finally, they have a coach who gave them an identity offensively. It goes through Nick Chubb. When you feed him the football, great things happen. I admire him because he’s business as usual. He’s a quiet guy that focuses solely on football. He lets his play do all the talking.

  1. The man packs his lunchbox and goes to work.
A quiet superstar for sure but one of the best at his position.
Great job as always, keep up the great work.
