We’re less than a week away from one of the best days for the NFL. Outside of the regular season and the Super Bowl, the NFL Draft has been a popular event over the years. It’s always fun to look at certain prospects. For the fans, they’re able to look at who they feel would be a good fit for their team. One common thing that occurs around draft time is trades. I always say to expect the unexpected around draft time. Another trade has taken place today. The Kansas City Chiefs have acquired the young offensive tackle, Orlando Brown from the Baltimore Ravens in exchange for a first-round pick this upcoming week in the draft along with a third-round and fourth-round pick in this year’s draft. Next year, they’ll have a fifth-round pick in the 2022 NFL Draft.

The first thing I notice when watching Orlando play is how aware he is. He’s 6’8 and weighs about 345 pounds. While playing, Orlando uses his length and long arms to his advantage. He knows how to square himself up to keep pass rushers from getting into the pocket. I’ve seen him do everything that teams want from a standout offensive lineman. He pass blocks with the best of them. During his AFC North days, he went toe to toe with two of the best pass rushers in the league in T.J. Watt and Myles Garrett twice a season. Those are battles right there. He’s excellent when it comes to run blocking. Orlando can pull to open lanes for the running game. I lost count of the times I saw him opening lanes for Lamar Jackson and the Ravens running game. To be so big, he has tremendous footwork along with the quickness and agility to remain on his feet. He’s so consistent in all he does whether he’s pancaking defenders or protecting the passer.

The Chiefs main priority was to improve that offensive line. Patrick Mahomes was running for his life in the Super Bowl this past February. This is a great move for the defending AFC Champions. It gives them a consistent pass protector and Orlando will have his battles in the AFC West seeing Joey Bosa and Von Miller two times a season now. I approve of this move.
