Notre Dame is one of the most iconic programs in the history of college sports. Many legendary names have played for this legendary football program. To name a few, Tim Brown, Paul Hornung, Alan Page, Jerome Bettis and the legendary Joe Montana. All those names I listed all have one thing in common. They are all members of the Pro Football Hall of Fame. This has been a special year for the Fighting Irish. As members of the ACC this year, they have been perfect in their first nine games of the year. How’ve they done it?
It starts with a perfect offensive balance. They have just the right amount of run plays and passing plays. Also, it’s time to give Ian Book his respect. Each week, he’s criticized that he doesn’t do enough or he’s not who people think he is. This kid is tough and since he’s become the starting quarterback, they’ve won 39 of the 32 games he’s started. On the other hand, Kyren Williams is also one of the best running backs in the country. He can impact the game as a runner or a pass catching back. One burst up the field from him, he’s in space or in the next level of the defense. They play collectively well as a unit.
They’ve also been great on the defensive side of the football. I remember watching their first game of the year against the Duke Blue Devils, I saw a group with great speed and pursuit of the football. They have playmakers all around. Just the other day against the North Carolina Tar Heels, they had no problem shutting down one of the best offenses in the nation. In the second half, they held them to a field goal. What a year it’s been.
