“Philthy”

If you’ve ever needed a laugh during this NFL season, look no further than the NFC East (laughs out loud). No team in the division is above .500. The sad, but true fact is even with a losing record, someone is a game or two out of first place. Let’s look at the Philadelphia Eagles. After the unfortunate injury to Dak Prescott on October 11th, you’d think the Eagles would improve and run away with the division at this point, right? Not necessarily. Here’s what’s insane though. Even as they’ve struggled as of late, they are still in first place with a record of 3-6-1. What’s been the issues with the Eagles?

A major bulk of their problems stem from the offensive side of the football. Look at how great this offense was when they won it all in 2017. They had balance most importantly. The Eagles bread and butter was a consistent running game. They don’t have that now because Miles Sanders has been in and out of the lineup due to injuries. Their biggest issue on the offense is that offensive line without question. You watch Carson Wentz each time he steps back to throw and he’s scared for his life. The protection breaks down each time and that forces a lot of inept passes. You truly play as well as those five guys up front.

The defense isn’t helping the cause either. When I see them, I see a group that looks lost. There’s no lane discipline, the gap integrity is lost, they don’t finish tackles in the open field, I see no pressure from the quarterback and they struggle to get off the field. Sometimes I feel they don’t want to play for Jim Schwartz anymore. It’s been a long season for the Eagles. Something has to give.
