Campus Clash
(8) Florida Gators at (5) Georgia Bulldogs
Florida: I was high on them as the season approached. When Dan Mullen decided to stick with Kyle Trask as the starting quarterback, they were headed in the right direction. Prior to the game against the Missouri Tigers, the last time we saw them play, they were on the losing end to the Texas A&M Aggies. Since then, they have dealt with a COVID outbreak and a cancellation of their game against the LSU Tigers. Despite that, the Florida Gators got back into the swing of things on Saturday. Kyle Trask is a dark-horse Heisman candidate. He’s put together a nice year so far for this team. 18 interceptions with two interceptions. What I took away from their win against Missouri was how dominant they were in every aspect of the game. Next on the schedule is their annual showdown with one of their biggest rivals.
Georgia: When I last saw them play, they were on the receiving end of a beat down courtesy of the Alabama Crimson Tide in Tuscaloosa. In week nine, they were in Lexington to play the Kentucky Wildcats. The entire Georgia defense deserves one entire game ball because they did everything to keep them in the game. After getting off to a hot start, Stetson Bennett has struggled lately. He turns the ball over and has thrown as many interceptions as he has touchdowns this year. Also, he’s only completing under 60 percent of his passes. This is the “Chicago Bears” of college football. because the defense is the stronger side of the ball. I say that because the offense is struggling and the defense has been carrying the football team. Next is a huge game in the SEC East.
Florida X-Factor: Kadarius Toney– The human joystick! He can impact the game in so many ways. The ability to cut on a dime and change directions in space to free himself. Without question, he’s the shiftiest player in the SEC. Watch for him to give Georgia fits in this game.
Georgia X-Factor: Zamir White– The best running back in the SEC not named Najee Harris. I’ve always liked how Georgia uses him. Of course, he takes hand-offs, but he can also catch the ball in space if you line him up as another receiver. Zamir can also help take the pressure off Bennett.
Final Analysis: It’s a huge game in the SEC. When they play, the winner normally goes on to win the division and represent the SEC East in the conference title game in Atlanta. The Georgia defense will have their hands full with this Gators offense, especially Kyle Pitts. This Gators offense has been on a roll this year. Look for them to use no huddles to keep Georgia’s defense on its toes.
Prediction: Florida 31 Georgia 24
