Week Eight Power Rankings (NFL)

1. Pittsburgh Steelers: For a second, I thought they were going to blow that lead in Nashville. Ben had a tough time taking care of the ball against the Titans and it was a close game in the fourth quarter until the missed field goal. The Steelers are 6-0 for the first time since 1978. What a time for Pittsburgh fans. They’ve passed one part of their test. The next part takes place today in Baltimore.

2. Kansas City Chiefs: They find different ways to win games. I like how they aren’t necessarily expecting Patrick Mahomes to bail them out every time with his play making. The Chiefs have reverted to running the football and playing better defense. As expected, they had their way with the Denver Broncos in week seven. Today, they play the New York Jets. This could get ugly very quickly.

3. Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Finally, an appearance from a Tom Brady team! When they play how they did against the Green Bay Packers, nobody is beating this football team. The offense continues to gel, and the defense continues to play an aggressive style under Todd Bowles. After this week, they get Antonio Brown on the field. But first, they’ll handle their business on Monday night in East Rutherford against the Giants.

4. Baltimore Ravens: I like the “win now” mindset they have. They traded for Yannick Ngakoue from the Minnesota Vikings to pair him up once again with Calais Campbell. Oh, I can’t forget Matthew Judon either. The Ravens defense once again is one of the top units in the league. They’ve relied too much on blitzing to rush the passer. Let’s see how this pans out today against the Steelers.

5. Green Bay Packers: Now that’s how you bounce back. Prior to the game against the Houston Texans, I said that someone could have a career day because Houston can’t stop anyone on defense. Davante Adams had the game of his life catching 13 passes for 196 with a few touchdowns under his belt. When key guys have been out, others have stepped it up. They continue to push their lead in the NFC North.
