AFC Game Of The Week
Kansas City Chiefs at Buffalo Bills
Chiefs: You can’t win them all, right? The funny thing is, I told someone that if they were to lose a game, it would be to someone that you didn’t see coming, and surely enough, the Las Vegas Raiders went into Arrowhead and upset the defending champs. Early in the year, the Chiefs have leaned on the running game. Clyde Edwards-Helaire has been a godsend to this offense by providing balance. That wasn’t the case on Sunday in week five. The Raiders held this Chiefs rushing attack to 80 yards. Patrick is human after all. He looked off and didn’t connect on passes he normally completes. The defense also struggled to do much of anything. Derek Carr had too clean of a jersey for my liking meaning they applied no pressure. They’ve had additional time now to regroup. They will play on Monday now in Orchard Park.
Bills: As impressed as I’ve been with them, they’ve had some flaws. I noticed that in week three because they were up 28-3 and they blew that lead (it’s not safe!). Even against the Raiders, they had a big lead and the Raiders crept back into the game. In week five against the Titans, the Buffalo Bills looked soft and undisciplined. Josh Allen turned the ball over twice, the offensive line was punched in the mouth up front, they committed too many penalties on both sides of the ball for my liking and defensively, I saw a group that lacked energy. They didn’t cover well, couldn’t tackle and Ryan Tannehill threw the ball all over their secondary. The show must go on though. Now, they’ll get to prepare for another tough team. The Kansas City Chiefs.
Chiefs X-Factor: Mecole Hardman– With Sammy Watkins out for a few weeks, he’ll slide into the number two receiver role on the depth chart. When one guy is out, they have the depth to move people around. Outside of Tyreek Hill and Travis Kelce, this is Mahomes’ favorite target down the field.
Bills X-Factor: Tremaine Edmunds– Tremaine can make an impact play in several ways from playing that spy in the middle to running from sideline to sideline and even dropping in coverage in pass defense. When things open up for him, he can also rush the passer for the sack.
Final Thoughts: This game is now being played on Monday. Both teams enter after suffering their first loss of the year. Buffalo should be looking to attack that Chiefs offensive line early on. They allowed three sacks last week against Las Vegas. Also, I’d like to see the Bills run the ball a bit more in this one. The Chiefs must apply pressure on Allen as the Titans did on Tuesday.
Prediction: Chiefs 34 Bills 24
