Von Miller has been one of the most colorful characters in the NFL. He has a larger than life personality on and off the field. The Denver Broncos made him the second overall pick in the 2011 NFL Draft. He had an immediate impact on the Broncos defense: 29 quarterback hurries, 19 quarterback hits, and 11 sacks. He was named the 2011 Defensive Rookie of the Year. Since then, he’s become a star around the league. He’s entering his tenth year in the league. Now, news came out that he suffered an ankle injury during practice today. Von will miss the 2020 season.
I can always appreciate a good pass rusher. I’ve been watching Von for years and I can say it’s like artwork. Von is 6’3 and weighs about 250 pounds. His first release off the snap of the football is unreal. That’s what has set him apart from other outside linebackers in this league. How he uses his body to get around people is special. Von will run around you, power through you, or dip underneath you. No matter what he does, he finds a way to get to the quarterback. Von plays low at all times which allows him to win basically every battle on the field. I can’t say it enough, but the lowest man wins! Not many guys can bend so low and keep moving. Von just has a way of powering himself with his feet.
This is such a huge loss for the Broncos defense. He’s that leader that can’t be replaced. Von has also been the Broncos best overall player these last few years. Vic Fangio had him do a lot last season. It was a different scheme that had him on the field at all times because he is such a difference maker. The next man must step up. I’m wishing him a speedy recovery. You never want to see this happen to anyone.
