10. Drew Brees– Another year, another list! This is one of my favorite annual projects within the company. It’s time for my annual “Best in the Business” project where I present to you who my ten best players are in the NFL right now entering the new season. Like a fine wine, he’s been getting better with age. Drew Brees kicks off this years’ list checking in as my tenth best player in the NFL entering the 2020 season.
It’s incredible to watch him get into a rhythm. When he’s locked in, he’s impossible to slow down. What’s set him apart from many other quarterbacks over the years is the field vision he displays. Drew will scan the entire field then attack or find his spot in the defense. He’s one of the most accurate passers I’ve seen play this game. Number nine has a way of fitting the ball through any tight space. However, he can also place it in a position where only his intended receiver can get it. One thing I can’t stress enough about something he does consistently is how he does a great job of making a defender think he’s going one way then he finds someone else.
2019 was rocky for the legendary quarterback. He injured his thumb in week two of the regular season and was sidelined five games. He came back in week eight and didn’t miss a beat. Each year, it seems as if he’s on the cusp of making history. On a Monday night in December against the Colts, he passed Peyton Manning to become the all-time leader in touchdown passes. What a run it’s been for this future first-ballot Hall of Famer.
