NFL Draft Winners

1. Cincinnati Bengals: We knew who they would select. I like how they held their ground by not trading away such a valuable pick. Joe Burrow enters the NFL after putting together the greatest season I’ve seen from a collegiate quarterback. The crazy thing is they could have traded down as I eluded too in the first few sentences. The Bengals hit a home run by drafting a guy who will immediately become the face of the franchise. With their first pick in the second round, they gave Joe a weapon to depend on for years to come in Tee Higgins. In the third-round, they filled a big void by drafting linebacker Logan Wilson for the defense.

2. Miami Dolphins: The struggles from 2019 lead them to the draft this weekend. For months, they had been linked to Tua Tagovailoa. With their first pick on Thursday night, they got him! Of course, there are going to be concerns about his hip, but doctors believe he’s 100 percent which will allow him to perform the magic on the field which makes him such an intriguing talent. The Dolphins had three picks in the first round. They drafted Austin Jackson to give Tua protection on the offensive line. I also like the addition of Auburn corner Noah Igbinoghene to an already well-stocked secondary.

3. Indianapolis Colts: They traded their first-round pick to acquire DeForest Buckner from the San Francisco 49ers.  The Colts struck gold with the selection of Michael Pittman Jr. He’s a possession receiver that can bail any quarterback out on jump balls. They also drafted Jacob Eason from Washington as their quarterback for the future. Philip Rivers only signed for a year in Indianapolis. Jacoby Brissett isn’t the answer long term for the team moving forward. Well done Indy.

4. Dallas Cowboys: Always expect the unexpected. That’s exactly what happened when CeeDee Lamb was there for the Cowboys at 17 in the first round. From there, they had to address their secondary. With their next pick, they drafted Alabama cornerback Trevon Diggs. I saw a few mocks that had Dallas taking him with their pick in the first round. Jerry was able to fix up the secondary more by drafting Tulsa’s Reggie Robinson. Dallas could be scary to watch next year offensively.

5. Denver Broncos: Many of the mocks had them taking a wide receiver. With the 15th pick in the first round, Denver selected Jerry Jeudy from Alabama. I’m sure many people were shocked because he was expected to be the first wide receiver off the draft board. Bulking up the offense was the top priority for John Elway this draft. He did just that. Also, they drafted K.J. Hamler from Penn State. A guy who was widely regarded as one of the most explosive receivers in college football. It’s been a struggle in Denver. Hopefully, this turns things around.
