1. Los Angeles Chargers: They decided to part ways with Philip Rivers after sixteen seasons. Sit here and ask yourself this question. Is Tyrod Taylor the answer for you? Not at all. The weapons he would have in LA would somewhat be similar to what he once had with the Carolina Panthers. A tall, lanky wide receiver in Keenan Allen, another big target in Mike Williams, the big tight end in Hunter Henry and another dynamic running back in Austin Ekeler. With Tyrod, the Chargers aren’t a playoff team. Signing an MVP with a big game experience would make them a wild card team in the AFC. They would also be the only threat to the Chiefs in the division.
2. Jacksonville Jaguars: Minshew Mania is cool and all, but the young quarterback is still developing. The athleticism and experience of Cam Newton would give the Jaguars more of a chance in their division. I’d even say they’d be a Wild Card team in a wild AFC. Think back to 2017. The Jaguars shocked everyone by winning the AFC South with a great running game and a stingy defense. All they needed was a quarterback. A signing like this would allow Doug Marrone to depend on their running game more.
3. New England Patriots: The big question continues to be asked. Who will replace Tom Brady in Foxborough? Bill Belichick has expressed his respect for the quarterback. This could be the move to revitalize Cam’s career. He’s never been with a serious offensive-minded coach. If he were to sign with the Patriots, he’d have just that in Josh McDaniels who would use him in different ways. Similar to what he did with Tim Tebow when he was the head coach of the Broncos. New England would still run their division.
