Finally……

Jalen Ramsey is one of the more colorful characters in the league. You talk about a guy who’s unfiltered and doesn’t care what comes out of his mouth. Remember last Summer when he gave an interview and he started to critique every quarterback in the league? He said Andrew Luck wasn’t that great (I cleaned it up from what he really said), he said Ben Roethlisberger is trash and said the same about Josh Allen and that’s just to name a few. The funny thing is after he said all of this, those three quarterbacks defeated his Jaguars. This year, it’s been a roller coaster for Jalen. Early in the season, he claimed that he wanted to win and for the Jacksonville Jaguars to trade him. He’s missed some games dealing with a back injury. Today, he finally got his wish granted. He’s been traded to the Los Angeles Rams.

When he’s on the field, he’s top five playing the position of cornerback. I’ve always admired the way he plays the game because he defends the opposition’s top wide receiver and he’s even big enough to defend tight ends which isn’t easy to do. The first thing I’ve always noticed about him is the confidence and swagger he displays. He feels he can shut down anybody no matter who it is. What makes him so impressive is the ability to cover on an island by himself without any help over the top from a safety. He’s physical at the line of scrimmage and does everything in his power to jam receivers off their route. He’s a former safety that uses what he learned from that position and has transferred that to playing corner. Jalen can cover a lot of ground where he’s able to play off the receivers and he can tackle very well in space. He plays a physical brand of football with the way he attacks the football in the air. This guy shuts down an entire half of the field which means quarterbacks don’t even elect to throw the football in his direction. People may not like how much he talks, but when you run your mouth and back it up, I’m all for it and he does. He doesn’t shy away from anything.

Who saw this coming? I know Marcus Peters was traded to the Ravens earlier this afternoon and Aqib Talib is on injured reserve with a rib injury. The Rams added Jalen at the perfect time. I’ve often compared him to Richard Sherman with how he is on the field. They have similar mannerisms from how they play to how they run their mouths. The NFC West definitely just got a bit more interesting.
