1. Alabama Crimson Tide– DeVonta Smith had quite the day last week against Ole Miss, a team that has given Nick Saban and Alabama some difficult times over the years. Tua shredded the Rebels defense with 418 yards passing and seven total touchdowns. He’s yet to throw a pass in the fourth quarter and that is exactly why I refer to him as college football’s version of Steph Curry.
2. Ohio State Buckeyes– The more I watch this team, the more impressed I am. This maybe the most complete team in the country right now that continues to play with a strong chip on their shoulder. The offense is potent, they run the football and the defense has been playing well. No Urban, no Haskins, no problem. This is still the best team in the Big Ten. They will get a tough test tonight against the Michigan State Spartans at the shoe.
3. Clemson Tigers- They were tested last weekend in Chapel Hill. Mack Brown and the North Carolina Tar Heels gave them everything they could handle, but in the end, the champs survived. Clemson was held to 331 total yards of offense, their lowest output since 2017. I really need them to tighten some things up because they don’t look as sharp as we’re accustomed to seeing.
4. LSU Tigers– They’ve been on a tear this year so far. The offense is one of the ten best in the nation along with a punishing, yet physical defense. Joe Burrow continues to play at a high level. As I’ve said about a few teams before a big game, focus on what’s in front of you and not next week. They face Utah State today.
5. Oklahoma Sooners– They reached the 900-win plateau last weekend and eighth straight victory over Texas Tech with another solid performance by Jalen Hurts. 413 yards passing and three touchdowns to CeeDee Lamb. The Sooners just continue to roll this season. They face Kansas today in a Big-12 showdown on the road.
