The Road To Atlanta: IV

NFC Championship: The Los Angeles Rams and New Orleans Saints were by far the two best teams in the NFC. Throughout the year, they ranked first and second in the conference. Their week nine showdown to many was a preview of a potential playoff matchup. All these months later, these are the final two teams standing in the NFC. When they met back on November 4th, it was one of the more anticipated games of the weekend and it didn’t disappoint one bit. The Rams entered the game a perfect 8-0 and the Saints were winners of six in a row. The Saints got off to that fast start and never looked back. They handed the Rams their first loss of the regular season. Now, a trip to the ATL, Georgia is on the line. The Rams imposed their will on Saturday against the Cowboys and the Saints had to grind out a win against the Eagles. Sunday will be a collision course in New Orleans.

AFC Championship: If you’re anything like me, you shouldn’t be shocked to see this matchup to decide the AFC, the New England Patriots and Kansas City Chiefs. They met back in week six on a Sunday night in Foxboro, Massachusetts. There were a lot of storylines entering the game as it was the first ever matchup between the up and coming star in Patrick Mahomes and the legend himself, Tom Brady. This was a game where the Chiefs were steamrolling through most of their opponents and hadn’t lost a game. The Patriots entered this game winners of their last two after a rocky 1-2 start. It was a tale of two halves with New England dominating the first half. Then, the Chiefs woke up in the second half behind a big performance from Mahomes and the league’s top offense. I knew 30 plus would end up deciding this game. Instead, we got 40 and the Patriots won by a field goal, 43-40 to hand the Chiefs their first loss of the year. Cris Collinsworth said during the telecast that these two may have to face each other once again down the road. He was spot on with that analysis.

See you all later in the week with the actual game previews. Don’t hesitate to send me your football questions throughout the week.
