Can You Digg It?

For years, the Minnesota Vikings needed a playmaker within their receiving core and now, they’re fortunate to have two of them. One is Adam Thielen who had a breakout year in 2017 and Stefon Diggs is the other who they drafted in the fifth round in the 2015 NFL Draft. Today, he was rewarded with a five-year contract extension worth $72 million deal with $40 million guaranteed.

When he came into the league, I was high on him and I saw a lot of potential in him to become a productive wide receiver and over the course of time, he’s done just that. I enjoy watching how he releases himself to get off the line and get down the field. He’s quick with choppy feet, good hands to make every catch and he’s aware meaning he knows what’s going on at all times on the field. Whenever you need a big catch, this guy always seems to be there. The biggest play of his career came just seven months ago in a playoff game at home against the New Orleans Saints. With ten seconds remaining on the clock, the Vikings ran a play that was designed to get out of bounds so the clock could stop. Keenum threw the football and Stefon caught it and put his hand down to make the catch and he took it to the house for a 61-yard touchdown. That play has become known as the “Minneapolis Miracle”.

I like the deal the Vikings made to make sure he would remain in the purple jersey for the future. He’s become one of their most important offensive pieces and he’s still young and will develop into more of a productive receiver. Kirk Cousins, Adam Thielen, Dalvin Cook, Kyle Rudolph and now Stefon Diggs are all under contract for the Vikings.
